Project Overview: Lyde Green Cricket Pavilion
Project Scope: Complete Mechanical & Plumbing Installations
Location: Harebell Road, Lyde Green, Bristol, BS16 7LY.

We were appointed on behalf of Midatt Ltd to deliver the comprehensive design development, supply, installation, and commissioning of the mechanical and plumbing systems for the newly built Lyde Green Cricket Pavilion. The facility is designed to serve both the local community and the nearby school.

Key Mechanical & Plumbing Works

Heating & Hot Water Generation:

Heating is driven by a natural gas-fired Vaillant system boiler located in the newly formed plantroom. The main hall benefits from a highly efficient wet underfloor heating system, while the majority of the remaining areas are heated via Stelrad compact steel radiators and Low Surface Temperature (LST) radiators. The change rooms are equipped with mild steel heating coils. The entire heating system is weather-compensated through BMS controls, modulating for maximum efficiency, and is supported by a Dutypoint pressurisation unit and expansion vessel.

Cold & Hot Water Services:

Domestic hot water is generated by a 30kW Andrews Maxxi gas-fired water heater paired with a 300-litre Center Store indirect unvented cylinder, providing 500 litres of stored hot water. Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) are installed before basin outlets to prevent scalding. Cold water is distributed throughout the building via a Dutypoint booster tank and pump set located in the plantroom. A Hydrotec scale reducer protects the incoming mains supply from hard water scale, and all pipework is insulated with foil-faced phenolic insulation.

Ventilation & Drainage:

The main areas of the pavilion are served by Nuaire Heat Recovery Units (HRUs) located in the plantroom, delivering tempered fresh air through galvanised ductwork to ceiling-mounted diffusers and grilles. Localised extract ventilation systems were also installed as required. Fire dampers with 30/60/90-minute ratings were fitted wherever ductwork passed through designated fire barriers. Comprehensive above-ground drainage was installed using U-PVC pipework to safely remove waste from all sanitaryware.

Smart Controls:

To ensure the building operates efficiently, a comprehensive digital Building Management System (BMS) provided by T.E.S.A controls was installed. The system features a panel-mounted controller with a touch-screen interface, giving the occupier full automatic control over environmental conditions, as well as status monitoring and visual alarms.
